The Air Quality Community of Practice of latam and African cities aims to share best practices for the generation and use of data and tools for air quality management and climate change mitigation through a community of practice with authorities in Latin America and Africa for city authorities to design and implement comprehensive solutions, based on previous experience of successful cases, including knowledge of emission sources, design of comprehensive plans and prevention of high pollution events.
In this first session, the methodological process for assessing the performance of air quality forecasts and their relevance for cities and regions is shared with the members of the Community. It addresses the generation of air quality forecasts and the importance of evaluating their performance, from the perspective of NASA staff, the importance of evaluating the performance of air quality forecasts and the methodology used in the CDMX and share experiences and lessons learned in the evaluation of forecast performance in Nuevo Leon, Mexico and Bogota, Colombia.
