A climate action plan creates a framework for cities to reduce or “mitigate” greenhouse gas emissions in coordination with other city plans for development, transport, health, and other issues. When successfully orchestrated, a climate action plan can create a shared vision around a climate goal and can align climate policies with social and economic development goals, unlocking complementary social and economic benefits for cities.
The objective of the webinar is to provide an introduction to climate action planning. The webinar will review principles of climate action planning, lay out a process for planning, and walk through each component, from quantifying GHG emissions to reporting on progress.
With funding from the Global Environment Facility, the Global Platform for Sustainable Cities’ Resource Team presents a webinar series examining sustainable and integrated urban development through a range of topics. The Resource Team, a consortium made up of WRI, C40 and ICLEI, is working in partnership with the World Bank in support of their Global Platform for Sustainable Cities. The GPSC program brings together participating cities and a wide range of entities that are working on urban sustainability issues to create a shared platform for global knowledge and an evidence-based, integrated approach to realize very worthwhile outcomes.
